Navagraha Stotram

Soorya - Sun:
जपाकुसुमसंकाशं काश्र्यपेयं महाद्युतिम्
तमोरिं सर्व पापघ्नं प्रणतोस्मि दिवाकरम्

japAkusuma samkAsham kAshyapeyam mahAdyutim

tamorim sarva pApagnam praNatosmi diwAkaram

(I pray to the Sun, the day-maker,
destroyer of all sins, the enemy of darkness, of great
brilliance, the descendent of Kaashyapa, the one who
shines like the japaa flower.)


Chandran - Moon:
दधिशङ्खतुषाराभं क्षीरोदार्णवसम्भवम्
नमामि शशिनं सोमं शम्भोर्मुकुटभूषणम्
dadhishankha tushArAbham ksheerodArNava sambhavam
namAmi shashinam somam shambhormukuta bhooshaNam

(I pray to the Moon who shines coolly like curds or a
white shell, who arose from the ocean of milk, who has
a hare on him, Soma, who is the ornament of Shiva's
hair.)

Chevvai - Mars:
धरणीगर्भसम्भूतं विद्युत्कान्तिसमप्रभम्
कुमारं शक्तिहस्तं तं मङ्गलं प्रणमाम्यहम्
dharaNi-garbha-sambhootam vidyut-kAnti-samaprabham
kumAram shaktihastam tam mangalam praNamAmyaham

(I pray to Mars, born of Earth, who shines with the
same brilliance as lightning, the young man who
carries a spear.)

Budhan - Mercury:
प्रियङ्गुकलिकाश्र्यामं रूपेणाप्रतिमंबुधम्
सौम्यं सौम्यगुणोपेतं तं बुधं प्रणमाम्यहम्
priyangukali-kAshyAmam roopeNA-pratimam-budham
sowmyam sowmya-guNopetam tam budham praNamAmyaham

(I pray to Mercury, dark like the bud of millet, of
unequalled beauty, gentle and agreeable.)

Guru - Jupiter:
देवानां च ॠषीणां च गुरुं काञचनसन्निभम्
बुद्धि भूतं त्रिलोकेशं तं नमामि ब्रहस्पतिम्
devAnAm cha rishinAn cha gurum kAnchana-sannibham
buddhi bhootam trilokesham tam namAmi brahaspatim

(I pray to Jupiter, the teacher of gods and rishis,
intellect incarnate, lord of the three worlds.)

Shukran - Venus:
हिमाकुन्द मृणालाभं दैत्यानां परमं गुरुम्
सर्व शास्त्र प्रवक्तारं भार्गवं प्रणमाम्यहम्
himakunda-mrNAlAbham daityAnAm paramam gurum
sarva shAstra pravaktAram bhArgavam praNamAmyaham

(I pray to Venus, the utimate preceptor of demons,
promulgator of all learning, he who shines like the
fiber of snow-white jasmine.)

Shani - Saturn:
नीलाञ्चन समाभासं रविपुत्रं यमाग्रजम्
छाया मार्तण्ड संभूतं तं नमामि शानैश्र्वरम्
neelAnchana samAbhAsam ravi-putram yamAgrajam
ChAyA-mArthanDa sambhootam tam namAmi shanaishwaram

(I pray to Saturn, the slow moving, born of Shade and
Sun, the elder brother of Yama, the offspring of Sun,
he who has the appearance of black collyrium.)

Rahu
अर्धकायं महावीर्यं चंद्रादित्यविमर्दनम्
सिंहिकागर्भसम्भूतं तं राहुं प्रणमाम्यहम्
ardhakAyam mahAveeryam chandra-aditya-vimardanam
simhikA-garbha-sambhootam tam rAhum praNamAmyaham

(I pray to Rahu, having half a body, of great bravery,
the eclipser of the Moon and the Sun, born of
Simhikaa.)

Ketu
पलाशपुष्प संकाशं तारकाग्रहमस्तकम्
रौद्रं रौद्रात्मकं घोरं तं केतुं प्रणमाम्यहम्
palAshapushpa samkAsham tarakAgrahamastakam
rowdram rowdrAtmakam ghoram tam ketum praNamAmyaham

(I pray to Ketu, who has the appearance of Palaasha
flower, the head of stars and planets, fierce and
terrifying.)

  3. Very useful ji. Namaskarams. Regards and Respects. The following sloka and the remaining ones on other navagrahas are found in which Sloka Title /Heading these are found. Before 50 years, I was taught by my Grandfather the following only one pertaining to Rahu Bhagawan. Remaining ones I want to learn. Kindly help. "Raahuhu dhoomra rusischa soorpaa kridhau mandalae, nairudhyaam disidhischiyaam dhidhisutho dhoorvaa samith preethiman, Shri Paideenaja gothravaan ravi vidhuhu yamaachaamukhaha, paapaswasthi paavapaapa paladaha kuryaat sadha mangalam Raahuvae namaha. {May be some of the spellings or pronunciations are wrong on my understanding or my ignorance} Excusing for my shortcomings, Kindly enlighten me as to the origin / Book Title where these slokhas can be found.     There is one Slokha for all nine planets as given below. I am looking for the Sanskrit/Hindi version.

    aarokyam pradhathu noh dinakara
    chandroh yaso nirmalam
    bhoodim bhoomisudha sudham sudhanaya
    pragnam gurur gowravm kanya
    komala vaak vilasa madhulam
    mandho mudham saravadha
    ragur bhahoopala virodha samanam
    ketu kulasyonidham
